Sophia C. Morandi wurde für ihr Projekt "The Ocular Surface Microbiome in Health and Disease" mit dem "Young Talents in Clinical Research Beginner Grant" der Gottfried und Julia Bangerter-Rhyner Stiftung und der SAMW ausgezeichnet. Das Projekt befasst sich mit der Untersuchung der Mikroben auf der menschlichen Augenoberfläche, dem sogenannten Augenoberflächenmikrobiom (AOM), und ihre Rolle in der Erhaltung der Gesundheit der Augenoberfläche sowie auch in der Entstehung von Erkrankungen. Das OSM ist ein noch wenig erforschtes Gebiet.

Sophia C. Morandi was awarded the “Young Talents in Clinical Research Beginner Grant” from the Gottfried and Julia Bangerter-Rhyner Foundation and the SAMS with her porject "The Ocular Surface Microbiome in Health and Disease”. The project focuses on the study of microbes on the human ocular surface, called the ocular surface microbiome (OSM), and their role in maintaining ocular surface health as well as in the development of disease. The OSM is an area that has hardly been explored so far.
